Shadows are an
absence of presence. They represent an imaginary vision requiring
the viewer to supply the information. Excitement and mystery
are created in the manipulation of these fragments. Some of
my images include both a partial figure and its shadow. On
a symbolic level, the shadow represents the personal unconscious.
Many of these shadows are powerful archetypes, universal symbols
that are mysterious and charged with intense energy. These
archetypes are not bound to a specific culture, time or space
and allow the viewer to respond with deep emotional recognition.
"Gremillion's work shines through with great luminosity,
great fierceness and great drama, and that to me is the ultimate
passion fulfilling that final step of what a photographer is
supposed to do. She has found the moment, secured it and presented
it. It is now up to each of us to experience and interpret it."
